Golden Gate Bridge
Nothing says San Francisco like the Golden Gate Bridge, a suspension bridge spanning the Golden Gate Strait, the opening into the San Francisco Bay from the Pacific Ocean. It connects the city of San Francisco on the northern tip of the San Francisco Peninsula to Marin County as part of US Highway 101 and California State Highway 1.|

Golden Gate Bridge Vista Points. There are two very popular spots to view the Golden Gate Bridges
- South Vista Point (San Francisco Side). Parking here is metered (one dollar per hour, payable in coins only), and there are only 81 parking spaces. You’ll find restrooms, a gift shop, café, and an exhibit showing the cross-section of a cable.
- North Vista Point (Marin Side). Parking here is free up to four hours, and there are restrooms. This lot is accessible only from northbound US 101.

Golden Gate Bridge Facts
The bridge opened to vehicular traffic on May 28, 1937 at twelve o’clock noon.- It was completed after more than four years of construction at a cost of $35 million.
- The 4,200-foot-long main suspension span was a world record that stood for 27 years.
- The two towers rise 746 feet making them 191 feet taller than the Washington Monument.
- The six-lane bridge crosses Golden Gate Strait which is about 400 feet (130 meters) deep.
